Cinghiali del Setta. A Story of Rugby and Situationism
The Cinghiali del Setta, a non professional rugby team from Bologna, are preparing to celebrate their 20th anniversary in September 2025. A diverse group of men, women, and children who believe in sport as a tool for community and change.
When Leonardo Barbieri – a young filmmaker from Bologna and proud Cinghiale himself – asked us to help bring this story to life, we immediately said yes. Because behind the adventures of this “Armata Brancaleone” of grassroots rugby, we saw something more: a tale of inclusive, community-based sport that shows there’s still room for change, both personal and collective.
After reaching the €10,000 goal in a crowdfunding campaign on Produzioni dal Basso, the project received a major recognition in July 2025, winning the development support for film and audiovisual works from the Emilia-Romagna Film Commission, placing second among funded projects.
The adventure goes on: today the try line feels a little closer, and the Cinghiali will keep pushing to get there.
